We are delighted to announce that Gŵyl Gerdd Dinas Powys Music Festival has received the Dinas Powys Local Hero Award for an organisation.
The award was presented at the Dinas Powys Community Council Annual General Meeting, following the completion of our 26th festival season. It is a wonderful recognition of the volunteers, performers, patrons, sponsors and supporters who help bring the festival to life each year.
Our 2026 programme once again reflected the variety at the heart of the festival. Events ranged from a lively Tom Jones tribute and a performance by the renowned Pontarddulais Male Choir to local cabaret group Forte and a bilingual event for pre-school children. Alongside our ticketed concerts, free community events helped make live music accessible to audiences of all ages.
The festival is organised by a volunteer committee made up of members of the Dinas Powys community. Months of planning take place behind the scenes, and the continued support of local venues, organisations, businesses and residents makes every season possible.
Receiving the Local Hero Award is therefore a tribute not only to the committee, but to everyone who contributes their time, talent and enthusiasm. Whether performing on stage, welcoming audiences, supporting the festival as a patron or simply attending an event, each person plays a part in its success.
We would like to thank Dinas Powys Community Council for this special recognition and for its continued support of the festival. We are proud to celebrate Welsh culture and talent while bringing people together through music in the heart of our village.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who supported our 26th season. This award belongs to the whole festival community, and we look forward to sharing much more music with you in the years ahead.
