ABC School of Opera
(Primary Schools Workshop)

TUESDAY 14 MAY • BY INVITATION ONLY
By invitation only, the ABC School for Opera with Mark Llewellyn Evans are giving a masterclass to local schoolchildren in opera from around the world.
This event is sponsored by Dinas Powys Community Council.
This is not a public event - local schools are invited directly.

RWCMD Students Concert

TUESDAY 14 MAY • METHODIST CHURCH
3:00PM & 7:30PM • £15
Featuring some of the finest young talent studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and supported by Loud Applause Rising Stars (LARS), an organisation based in Llanelli that gives young talent a stepping-stone towards a professional perfoming career. This event is a favourite at the Festival. Come and hear some of the operatic and instrumental stars of the future – you heard them here first!

Wednesday Afternoon Club:
“No Worries” Uke Band

WEDNESDAY 15 MAY • MURCHFIELD COMMUNITY HALL • 2:00PM
The local Ukelele band will be entertaining members of the Wednesday Afternoon Club over in the Murch. The “No Worries” Uke Band are also peforming a free concert on the Village Green on Saturday 11 May.
This event is part of the Wednesday Afternoon Club. Please contact them if you would like to attend.

“Baritone on the Roof” with Anthony Stuart Lloyd

WEDNESDAY 15 MAY • PARISH HALL • 7:30PM • £15
Described by the Daily Telegraph as having “a voice of Rolls-Royce sumptiousness”, Anthony Stuart Lloyd returns after his amazing performance in 2023 with his tribute to Fiddler on the Roof.

Hebron Hall: Mark Thompson

Local entertainer, Mark Thompson will be entertaining the residents at Hebron Hall.
This event is for the residents of Hebron Hall. Please contact Hebron Hall directly if you would like to attend this.

Cory Band

THURSDAY 16 MAY • PARISH HALL • 7:30PM • £20
Formed in the Rhondda Valley in 1984, one of the oldest and best known brass bands in the world, Cory Band returns to GGDPMF after their last performance in 2018, to blow the roof off the Parish Hall - a concert not to be missed.

Toddlers Musical Event

One for the very little ones - two sessions in Welsh and English introduce music to our youngest in Dinas Powys. Attendance is free but you must register in advance via our website.

Robbie Williams / Gary Barlow Tribute

FRIDAY 17 MAY • PARISH HALL • 8:00PM • £15
Performing hits from the two of the biggest names
in popular music from the last three decades, and of course Take That classics, come along for a night you’ll “Never Forget”.

Music on the Green: Soloflex Steel Pans

SATURDAY 18 MAY • VILLAGE SQUARE • 11:00AM • FREE
Bringing reggae sounds of the Caribbean to the village green, Wadha brings the music of Bob Marley and
lots of other popular tunes for a fun, free event for the whole family.
Just turn up to this free event. No advance booking is required.

Treorchy Male Choir

Joining us after their tour of Florida State in March, Treorchy Male Choir return to their home country for one the most popular events in our Festival calendar.

Cardiff Palm Court Orchestra

SUNDAY 19 MAY • PARISH HALL • 3:00PM • £10
As is tradition, the Cardiff Palm Court Orchestra will be concluding the Dinas Powys Music Festival with a concert of light classics, with tea and cakes served in the interval. Children are welcome to attend free of charge, and can bring their Teddies along as the Orchestra perform “The Teddy Bear’s Picnic”.

Forte’s “Cabaret of the Stars”

Join us for two nights with Forte and their “Cabaret of the Stars” show, for an entertaining night of songs, fun, with plenty of opportunities for a dance or two!

Music on the Green with “No Worries Uke Band”

SATURDAY 11 MAY • THE SQUARE • 11:00AM • FREE
The No Worries Uke Band was founded by DP residents Bryan, Maurice, Tim and Roger and their friends Grahame and Huw. Join them for their second appearance at the festival, they will again perform their high energy brand of ukulele driven music on the Village Green.

Gethin Liddington’s “Goodkatz”

SUNDAY 12 MAY • PARISH HALL • 7:30PM • £15
One of South Wales’ best jazz trumpeters, Gethin Liddington brings the ‘Goodkatz’ to the festival for the debut. Expect swing and latin from Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Louis Prima and more, with their blend of high energy playing, virtuosic soloing and fun! Featuring Ceri Rees (tenor sax and clarinet), Robin Hames (bass), Greg Evans (drums) and Richard West (piano).

Please note that our ticketline has access to the same ticket stock as our online stocks - so if tickets are sold out online, we also won't be able to offer them over the phone.

Free events

For any of our free public events, you don't need a ticket - simply turn up and enjoy!

Some free events are by invitation only, or require advance booking. Please see the details for the event which details any separate booking/reservation process.
By selling tickets directly, we don't charge any booking fees.

The Gwyl Gerdd Dinas Powys Music Festival is a not for profit organisation with a committee comprising of local members of the community within Dinas Powys. The festival hosts approximately 15 events every year, evenly split between paid and free community events.
