WNO are pleased to be taking part in the Dinas Powys Music Festival this spring, working with primary schools in the area. WNO’s schools program provides workshops and opportunities for young people across Wales and England, giving them the opportunity to experience the genre for the first time. Throughout our 2017/18 season we worked with over 100 schools and 3000 young people to introduce opera in interactive experiences, performances and workshops. Our sessions at the festival will duplicate the work we continue in schools by introducing popular characters and stories from opera inspiring them to explore this powerful genre in the classroom and at home. Director of Engagement and Partnerships, Emma Flatley says, “WNO’s school work is designed to offer young people the chance to engage with an art form they may never have seen before. It’s a chance to see how opera is relevant, engaging and fun, where you can work with professional singers and orchestral players to push the boundaries of what’s possible with music and art.”
This event is kindly sponsored by Dinas Powys Community Council.
