A new group to appear at the festival this year are “Ukulele Nights” who will be making their first appearance of the week at Youldon House for this free concert.
Ukulele Nights are a community-orientated ukulele group that had its foundation in Penarth some years ago. Ukulele Nights now have both a successful weekly jamming session in Canton or Ely Bridge and many performances. The ethos is of a sociable, friendly mixed group. Different genres of songs are played and performances contain many of these.
Ukulele Nights attempt to satisfy as many requests as feasible playing in Care Homes, Retirement Complexes, Day Centres, Garden Festivals, street and village fetes, Charity events and for Forget Me Not, 50+ and Goldies groups and private functions. Donations received are accumulated during a year when a cheque is then presented to Ukulele Nights’ “Charity of the Year”. Currently, this is Kidney Wales. All members are encouraged to perform at events but no expenses are received.
If you like what you hear or cannot make this concert, then you will have another chance to hear the group on the Village Green on Saturday 18th May.
